And the Blundred starts next month Is there any hope of De Grandhomme being selected for it so we might see the back of him for a month?

I thought that Lancs would lose though batting better in their 2nd Innings but never expected them to get so close and to still be trying to win at 8 down..
Loss hasn't affected our position in the table as every other Div 1 game was a draw...though the two bottom clubs have a game in hand over Lancs...
Thankfully MITS not the case, us, Middlesex and Northants have all played eight. We have 27 points more than 9th placed Middlesex but as the King of Pessimists, I'm still a little concerned! I don't know what the table read before this round of matches, but I suspect Middlesex gained some extra points, (eight?) for reaching their target but not actually passing it. At least that's what used to be awarded.

Northants x 2, Notts, Kent and Middlesex. For the pessimists everything is in their own hands.

I had us down as having 88 points before this match. We picked up three, but the BBC table shows us with 90 now. Have we been penalised a point for a slow over rate at some stage?

Agreed Admin re three day cricket though more often than not a finish had to be contrived in three days. It did bring urgency to the game, however.

If it was, you would have thought that he would try to go out with a good performance instead of providing catching practice for the leg-side fielders.

Agreed Admin re three day cricket though more often than not a finish had to be contrived in three days. It did bring urgency to the game, however. It also brought the farce of declaration bowling! I think the advent of covered pitches did for three day cricket as a serious game and, tbf, four day cricket has improved a lot. There just aren't enough games.

I'm wondering if Vilas will retire. It's sad to see somebody who has given so much struggling like this. He seems an honourable kind of guy who genuinely cares about the club, and must realise he's blocking the progress of the likes of Balderson & Bell, and that Chapple will never drop him.

I would think so....he is 38. Pity there is so little 2nd XI cricket for practice. He is still a good fielder though.

Without checking it out I believe he scored two centuries very early on last season, but then not much after April, certainly CC wise. It’s his seventh season, he’s served us well.
On a different subject, how old is Joseph Chapple? His bowling certainly looked likely in the clips that were on view yesterday.

Played under 16s for Cheshire last year, and under 15s for Cheshire the year before.
So I would say born 2005 or 2006
