Williams is bowling, not sure what's going on.
Rationale suggested was that even though the England match finished early yesterday, it was supposed to be a D/N match so might have been a late night drive. Neither at the ground according to the comms teams on Kent's youtube stream. Nothing from Lancs.
Except down at Surrey:
Jacks for Lawes (will bat today!) Lawes only took 5 wickets yesterday.
Smith for Patel from the third innings.
The muddle of who arrives when is surely making this an even bigger farce.
Neither Kent nor Lancashire coming out of this well. Why do they think they don't have to communicate effectively? Why do you work as Head of Comms and agree not to communicate?
Lancs can bowl Will Williams into the ground today......
I would of preferred them to of played wood. |

Just realised that Bohannon has passed 1,000 1st class runs for the season. Strong candidate for player of the season... Pity Singh wasn't played for Croft...Croft's place presumably to be filled by the proposed oversea's signing...

The substitute rule seems very unsatisfactory to me. Teams have been without players due to England commitments most of the season so why introduce this farce for the last round of matches? The commentators said that Hartley could replace Williams at any point in the game not sure if that is true or not.

My stream keeps being interrupted by bowls at Fleetwood! Good to learn that we are looking for an overseas batter. Along with Surrey, we have the most batting points in the division and have lost only one match (when we didn't pick our best side) but we can't get sides out in the fourth innings on our home pitch. We also have a very promising crop of young batters coming through. Meanwhile our first change seamer goes for 32 in four overs on a pitch offering a bit to the bowlers. Obviously, Chilton has looked at this and concluded that another batter will make all the difference...

Lancashire are never challenging for silverware with Blatherwick as our first change. He's a lower end second division bowler at best. Our first priority surely has to be a game changing bowler of whatever type? |

Maybe the guy from Worcs will turn out as an inspired signing..... I can't see Hartley bowling many sides out. I would prefer them to pick another seamer under most circumstances.

Lancs would probably be ok seam bowler wise when you take into account Anderson available at the beginning of the season usually, a fit Mahmood and if Wood plays regularly. Add those 3 to Bailey, Williams and Balderson and it doesn't look in bad shape. This year we had CdH and Mitchell for a spell who bowled as well as batted. Then Blatherwick was added to the mix. It just seems the way things have fallen with injuries, Anderson and Wood not playing much and the 2 Kiwis leaving at about the same time, 2 thirds into the CC season, we left ourselves short. Then of course not having a spinner that can take enough wickets doesn't help. Should management have known this? Well yeah, they knew what Anderson and Wood would be doing as well as the overseas players. Only Mahmood and what happened with Parky could be unforeseen at the start of the season.

No suggestion that the likes of Durham or Warwickshire are going to sub their players in though.
Whole thing is a bit weird. Supposedly the whole point of not picking some players, like Dan Lawrence and Jamie Overton, was to allow them to play in the Championship.

Impossible to say this far out. If hes got good wheels then he would certainly be worth a look, if he has any consistency at all that is. On these wickets they desperately need more pace. Can't see Wood or Mahmood playing too much they will be too busy playing 2020..... |
