I went yesterday, I thought the pitch offered something for the seamers without being a minefield. I don't think the Kent bowlers bowled particularly well and failed to exploit the overcast conditions after winning the toss. I would have liked to see Jimmy bowling in those conditions. Lancashire are in a good position but looking at the forecast I think a draw is favourite. Does Chris Green's inclusion in the team mean that he is being considered as the replacement for Lyon? Kent bowlers defintely would have struggled on the wicket as we are playing Notts!!!!!!!! |

Off for day I gather.
Guardian says that no team has ever fielded a team with more first class wickets taken than this Lancashire team.
“They haven’t yet had a bowl but, just by existing in the same team, Anderson and Lyon have ushered this Lancashire XI to the top of the pops. No other first-class side has ever fielded an eleven with more than Anderson and Lyon’s combined total of 1230 Test wickets. The only other county XI with 1000 Test wickets was also Lancashire – against Sussex at Liverpool in 2007. That XI had 1048 wickets: Muralitharan 700 (at the time), Flintoff 197, Cork 131, Mahmood 20.”
Trying to remember was that the one we won or lost. Played Sussex two years on the run there in games which were described as having Test match like intensity. I think we won in 2006 and lost in 2007. I went to some of both games but not the last day of either.

Is today July 1st or April 1st? ...cold, wet, miserable. The weather gods are taking the p... I've had 6 days when I've not bothered going due to constant rain and 6 days when I've been but the day has been disrupted by the weather. The English summer is becoming a real pain!
