This must be one of the youngest sides Lancs has ever put out. Balderson(21) the senior player and Bell captain and keeper at just 18. Surely we should be looking getting some of the fringe senior players in there to help the development

Surely we should be looking getting some of the fringe senior players in there to help the development Would be sensible, but there aren’t really any senior players available due to using a 15 man named sqaud for the T20s doesn’t help.
Those on the playing staff and not in that 15 men squad or in the Netherlands with England are: Blatherwick (injured), Anderson, Lavelle (assumed injured), Mahmood (injured) and Williams. Plus Joe Mennie was on pre-season tour in Dubai and played a couple of 2nds games eary season.
It’s a four day game Mon to Thursday when the firsts are playing at Blackpool again. Presumably Chapple would rather have Jones, Boyden, Morley and Hurt stay at Blackpool and practice T20 skills rather than travel to Nottingham for 2 days of a 2nd XI game and then withdraw them (which is allowed) to be in Blackpool again on Thursday for first team drinks carrying. Also I guess it means that they need all the 15 again on Thursday as Livingstone, Wood and Salt will still not be available even though England’s last match is Wednesday.

A lot more First XI experience in the Notts side. Just about keeping ahead of the game:
200 and 137/6 plays 186: 151 ahead although the scorecard seems to have stopped mid over.
Not a word yet about the game on the website, although they have tweeted something after day 1.
tempting to reply to this
...laughing at the Lancashire Cricket website?

But they lost in the end by 6 wickets, after an unbroken partnership of 69 between Montgomery (Notts' 22 year old captain from Gauteng who has played first class in Sth Africa and RL50 for Notts last year) and King (19 year old who again played for Notts in the RL50 and a bit of Minor County cricket for Norfolk).
Out of interest, I researched Steven Croft’s scores in his first 10 matches for Lancs between 2001 and 2004 so at a similar age to some of those in the seconds (16-19):
0, 5, 2, 0, 5, 20, 34*, 21, 22, 19, 19, 26, 17* excluding the did not bats.
Not many of today’s team have 10 2nds matches under their belts yet (Bell, Balderson, Fielding and Walkden perhaps), and as already pointed out they are doing it without any senior players in the side. We might have some good batsmen coming through.
Steven Mullaney first ten (aged 17-19): 23, 7*, 15, 38, 27*, 4, 22, 54, 0, 8*, 27, 4, 40
Lavelle (aged 18-19): 30,14, 0, 33, 2, 54, 0, 65, 14, 20, 15*, 76, 0, 31 Walkden (18-19): 40, 44, 49, 80, 20, 39, 9, 0, 15*, 15, 0, 30, 15, 0, 8, 81 (more or less always opening)

Keeping and captain the last few matches and still averaging high 30’s/low 40s at 4 mainly. Think he’s the natural successor to Crofty

Great to see the interest in the seconds. I just can’t keep up with new names nowadays.

Hundreds today for both JJ Fielding (aged 19) in his 14th seconds 3-day game and Harry Singh (just 18) in just his fourth 3 day game for the seconds.
Fielding: (2021) 23, 8, 15, 24, 14, 1, 5, 66, 12, 5, 1, (2022) 71, 2*, 81, 12, 10, 7, 75, 2, 2, 2, 21, 20, 12, 100+ Singh: (2021) 17*, 31, 0, 24*, (2022) 27, 60*, 100+
Not a bad partnership. Hard to judge on the videos that are shown, as they only show the boundary scores and wickets, but they both look good players.
Harry’s dad played for India in 2 ODIs. JJ’s dad played for Lancashire and Cumberland.

Just done 5 or so minutes of research on centuries for the second team: In 2022 (so far) Hurst 1 (aged 18) Bell 1 (19) Lavelle 1 (22) Mahmood 1 (19) Fielding 1 (19) Singh 1 (18) 2021 Balderson 1 (20) Cornall 1 (22) Jones 1 (25) Lavelle 2 (21) 2019 Fluck 1 (19) Hameed 1 (22) Shah 1 (20) 2018 Jones 2 (23) Hameed 2 (21) Brown 1 (30) Chanderpaul 1 (43) Croft 1 (33) Guest 1 (21) 2017 Jones 3 (22) Hameed 1 (20) Chanderpaul 2 (42) Procter 1 (29) 2016 Clark 1 (25) Turner 1 (19) 2015 Jones 1 (20) Hameed 1 (18) Procter 1 (27) Livingstone 1 (21) Reece 2 (24) 2014 Livingstone 1 (20) Reece 1 (23) Agathangelou 2 (24) 2013 Clark 1 (22) Livingstone 2 (19) Reece 2 (22) White 1 (27) 2012 Livingstone 1 (18) Agathangelou 1 (22)
Took longer to type up, than note down. Not sure what it proves / suggests other than: the county has released a lot of those players only 3 (exluding this year’s) have not been rewarded with a contract (Taylor Cornall, Ed Fluck and Calum Turner) Livingstone, Hameed were talented youngsters. We used to fill seconds with aging squad players less so over the last two years.

Thanks, it's always difficult to judge just from the nv play highlights. I haven't seen Lancs 2s or Academy since about 2018. I think it was in 2019 when they cancelled the Academy match at Sedbergh without any notice on the website.
I wouldn't be surprised if some there thought it would have been Saj let alone Saqib, but at least those attending 2s matches are a little more aware of what is happening below 1st team level, than most.
