296 for 5 at the close. Another flat but slowish pitch, much like the one at Bristol. Lancs bowled pretty well but, unless wickets tumble in the morning, it's at best another draw. Meanwhile Essex look pretty likely to win against Gloucs and Hants are on top against Warwickshire. Yorkshire/Surrey looks like a draw.

Seems like we prepared the pitch for our overseas spinner who hasn’t shown up. Typical Lancs

Spoke too soon about Warwicks/Hants: late wickets mean that the latter are 39 for 3 at the close.

Be warned if you are a member you need a ticket Shambles is the phrase. In the queue might get in by Thursday I suspected as much but on checking the LCCC website yesterday couldn't find confirmation. However they can issue you with tickets for the remainder of the match at the same time.No idea why they have done this this year.
Ground was rammed and getting around the ground tricky with all spectators' and their seats blocking the way.. There are no temporary stands. Note that if you aren't a LCCC member then car parking at Birkdale is £10.. Left at tea..too hot and view obscured by people wandering around the ground looking for seats...
As for the game Bailey was bowling off spin in the last over before lunch..
MITS Street parking just before official car par, turn tight onto Selworthy Avenue although the first 100 yards or so are coned off you are OK after that, can always park on Sandringham Road

Thanks MITS. You’ve made me feel better about not going. I can’t cope with the unrelenting heat and lack of shade at Southport.

You may be able to pay on the gate tomorrow, 80 mile round trip no thanks, getting to the stage where members are getting treated like idiots

You may be able to pay on the gate tomorrow, 80 mile round trip no thanks, getting to the stage where members are getting treated like idiots The first move towards honesty would be to change the name from Members to Season Ticket Holders. Is there any organisation where real members have so little a say?

Is there any organisation where real members have so little a say? If we had an organisation behind the scenes which actually did their jobs, the website is abysmal, would have got tickets for the two games, being a member you should have first go, but it seems to be a freeforall. Shambolic, it's the Lancashire way

It's looking already as if we might have to battle to get a draw. Wouldn't it be good to win the toss for a change and be able to put some runs on the board? We always seem to be batting second; 8 out of 9 lost tosses.

Somerset are missing Smeed, Abell and Banton too, but Lancs are struggling to get them out.

Somerset are missing Smeed, Abell and Banton too, but Lancs are struggling to get them out. Plus Overton and Leach. Smeed is absent but has never played first class cricket. He may have debuted instead of Rew. They have covered the loss of Leach by adding Virdi. Lancs probably hoped to replace Salt with Sundar, but played Jones due to Sundar's unexplained absence.

An injury to Sundar was mentioned on the commentary, slight if I recall correctly. Saving him for finals day, or do we still have David?
