It's looking already as if we might have to battle to get a draw. Wouldn't it be good to win the toss for a change and be able to put some runs on the board? We always seem to be batting second; 8 out of 9 lost tosses.

We always seem to be batting second; 8 out of 9 lost tosses. And Vilas only won 3 out of 15 last season so it isn't as if luck evens itself out. It makes it so much harder to dictate a game when the opposition continually have first pick.

An injury to Sundar was mentioned on the commentary, slight if I recall correctly. Saving him for finals day, or do we still have David? Not sure we could play Sundar. I remember in the past an overseas player had to have played at least one group game in or to play in the quarters or Finals day. I think it was to stop counties from bringing in a top overseas player for just the one game.

Couple of Somerset fans on their forum obviously enjoyed their day despite shambles getting in as Admin said. Said there was no officious stewarding inside the ground but said food and drink choice was poor.
A friend actually had a spare ticket for me last night but woke up with a bad cough ; have always had a slight cough since I got COPD from Long Covid . I don’t have any tests left but not fair to go into a ground coughing. So, that avenue of pleasure was unavailable.
I see there was no temporary stand this time ; in the Durham match a few years ago, I had to take refuge from the sun under that .

No wickets in the first 45 minutes. No chance of winning this game or even of getting 3 bowling points. Ironic that Southport was dropped by Lancs because of unsatisfactory pitches so now they've produced a road. Oops, as I write Gregory holes out to deep backward square...

Somerset a/o 446. Lancs 47 for 0 at tea. Realistically, the best we can do is try to get 5 batting points and a 15 point draw.

Being Southport, it might well turn on the last day but I don't think we can get a big enough lead to be able to exploit this properly. Wells and Jennings are well set and certainly can score quite fast on what is still a very flat pitch but they would have to go at 5 an over all day to give us a lead of 200. Not impossible but fairly unlikely.

The way Bohannon is batting this year is as baffling as it is infuriating.
He's got no chance of playing for England playing as negatively as this.

306-1 need close to 600 by the hand of the day to give enough time to bowl them out a second time

We can't lose now so may as well go hell for leather in the last session and try to get 200+ ahead. Even if it starts to turn tomorrow, we'll still need all three sessions to get them out.
