I agree that Jones should not be playing T20 but don't see what that has to do with his batting yesterday. His strike rate was comparable with that of anyone else who scored 25 or more runs. The fact is that aggressive batting got increasingly difficult on this pitch as the afternoon wore on, as can be seen from the after-tea procession of Lancs batters trying to "get on with it". Even Jennings finally got out to a mis-timed slog.
However, the pitch getting harder to play on is our only hope of winning, slim as that may be.

Massive day today.
For all my carping about Bohannon and Jones, Lancs still scored over 460 yesterday which is some effort. I'd have declared with five overs to go last night, but I guess they don't want to have to bat again this evening so need to stretch the lead as far as possible.
Draw is the massive favourite, but hopefully we can take some early wickets and put them under pressure. Would be huge for our season if we could win today.

Sorry all. As I say, he's clearly a good lad and he'll have a fine career on the county circuit, but he's approaching his late 20s and at present his average matches his age. If Lancs want to be the best club in the country they need to limit themselves to plays of the highest calibre. Keep a small, lean squad and play the kids if any first-teamers aren't available. Tbf we've trimmed the squad quite a bit over the last few years, so we're definitely going in the right direction.

Not convinced by Williams at all. What's happened to Blatherwick? Surely he offers more...

How long has he been injured for Chris? I thought I saw he was back recently.
You really are becoming the goto man on all second team matters and you do a good job thanks đź‘Ť .
Funnily enough, somebody asked me the same question on the Somerset forum before as he impressed there last year.

Morley on for all 10 ?
Wonder why Wells hasn’t had a bowl yet.

In this case, all I know is what lccc14656 posted on here in the seconds thread at the start of June (I’ve attached it here):

Apparently Williams has sustained a minor finger injury - a cut, I think - which is why he didn't bowl much this morning and Morley was brought on early. This worked out well while the ball was hard but, as the game has gone on, the slow pitch and soft ball have made it too easy for the batters to stonewall. Williams strikes me as lacking in penetration, although very economical, but even a combination of Wasim Akram, Dennis Lillee, Curtly Ambrose, Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan would have to work hard to bowl out a side on this pitch!
Re Jones: I agree with the general view that he's had enough chances to come good; just thought he was being scapegoated a bit yesterday.
Looks like an early handshake.

Suspect possibly declaring 30 minutes before the close last night may have been advantageous

Although I would love us to win the championship again, in a way I’m glad a pitch like that hasn’t rewarded the home team.
What a game at Scarborough ; result we didn’t want of course. I’m there week after next for Hampshire match.

Surrey got lucky when Gabriel had to go off injured but Yorkshire really lost this at the top of their second innings. Can't be many sides that lose after scoring 500+ in the first innings!
