Would love to comment but suspect abroad they have played in hotter conditions Intersting that when Washington Sundar took that first wicket, he’s quickly back at the bowlers end ready to carry on, whilst the rest of the Lancs team taking on water in a huddle. Weather probably hotter in India? And a reason why the over rate is slow

Northants Northampton 4 dayer starts 19/7/2022 and ends FRIDAY 22/7/2022 Then two days off and then the next game starts MONDAY 25/7/2022. I know this is an old moan, but seriously it is totally unacceptable. Couldn't agree more Richard. It's nive having it on in the background (ahem) at home but would much rather have a day or two there in person.

Cramming fixtures together in this way is bound to affect the attendances. I see that T20 Blast attendances are down from their peak in 2019. I wonder why?

I am actually having the day off on Monday to go, but it will probably be the only day of the Championship I see all year.

The opening day of County Championship game between Northants and Lancashire tomorrow has shortened due to the red extreme heat warning.
Play will finish at 16:30 BST instead of 18:00 in the "interest of spectator and player welfare". Would love to comment but suspect abroad they have played in hotter conditions They probably have, but when I have been abroad in hotter conditions than today it seemed more manageable, far more oppressive over here for whatever reason.

Humidity I think. I travelled in an old American car in Trinidad in the rain. It seemed 100 times hotter than it did the rest of the time I was there.

Good effort to get them 7 down after losing the toss (again!) and having to bowl in the heat and humidity. Parkinson obviously shaken by this morning's injury and unable to find a consistent line and length. Wood, Williams and Sundar all very good; Bailey straying off line a bit too much.

Might be in the minority here but after southport last week id of played Morley ahead of parkinson,Parkinson has been poor all season .Good effort by the rest of the bowlers in that heat today

Parkinson is Lancs's leading wicket taker in 1st class cricket this season. Up to and including the current match, he has taken 25 wickets with an economy record of 2.50 per over. In the T20 he has taken 13 wickets in 12 matches and is top of the Lancs economy ratings. I don't see how this equates to your comment that he has been "poor all season."

What has happened to Vilas? Lavelle keeping wicket today

What has happened to Vilas? Lavelle keeping wicket today Well I can't see any mention of a problem on the club's Twitter as yet. However, good news is that we've taken two early wickets and Northants are 226 for 9. Also a mention there that Tom Hartley has scored his maiden ton for the 2nd Eleven. I must have missed a day somewhere there as the last I saw was Essex 280 for 8 or thereabouts.

They must have known last night because Lavelle was playing for the seconds at Billericay, would have been a rush this morning!

Suppose they don't want to tell northants anything. They must have known last night because Lavelle was playing for the seconds at Billericay, would have been a rush this morning! The trouble is they never want to tell anybody anything. They are on a par with a large brick building in the middle of Moscow when it comes to keeping information from the public. Comms have said as far as they are aware Vilas has got a finger injury.
