Very late close of play. 86 to win with 5 wickets in hand. Tactics have been correct up to now: rattle along until the wicket starts to get difficult, which it has with both Croft and Vilas being bowled by ones that kept low. Silly to send in Parkinson as night watchman on this sort of wicket; Williams has done better, using his height to get to the pitch and negate the spin. Time for Jones to be the hero...

113 needed with 8 wickets left, looking good
93 needed with 7 wickets left, still looking good
86 needed with 5 wickets left, not so sure now!
I know the hours were adjusted to allow for 30 minutes extra on days two to four, but if the Lancs Twitter was updated on time, it seems they didn’t finish until after 8 p.m. What was that all about? We could have closed just two or three down!

We could have closed just two or three down! I had looked about 7:40 on the cricinfo app and seen Parkinson was in. I assumed that was CoP, but when I looked back later for a more detailed look, I was shocked to find that Williams had replaced him. So yes, it was very late. I can only guess what might have happened. |

By all accounts, both Jennings and Wells were sawn off today. Added to Rickelton and Bohannon in the first innings, that makes four so far. Pretty poor.

The umps have always got it right or wrong but in the old days we trusted their decision, now things are different. |

Id send wood in ahead of jones try to get a quick 25 30 take a bit of pressure off , jones would just prod around building more pressure.

Be surprised if Lancs makes this if the bowling stays tight. Need some loose balls, don't have confidence in anyone who we have left to bat. 2 new guys at the club at the crease together, pity we're having to rely on them. If Sundar sees this through he'll be a Lancs hero with both bat and ball.
