Fair play! Well done Williams and Sundar to get Lancs over the line.

Great win that. Northants aren't the strongest side in the division but they'd only lost one CC game before this and we got much the worst of the conditions. Having to bowl in 40-degree heat and then batting on a green mamba gave us a massive disadvantage.
We seem to keep digging ourselves out of bad situations, which says a lot about the character on the dressing room. On the other hand, we seem to keep letting winning positions slip too... we're far more suited to coming up on the rails than being the front-runner.
Anyway, CC challenge still alive. We'll need to win pretty much all the remaining games, but I actually think that's a good thing for us... it'll force us to be positive and drop the silly negativity that has cost us at times this season. This could be a really important part of the team's long-term development.
OLL!!

Is Will Williams' batting underestimated? 6*,12,14*,5* and 29* average 66.

Well that’s a pleasant surprise, didn’t fancy us to get 278. Having said that, if Kerrigan was part of a century stand then batting wasn’t perhaps as difficult as first thought.
Of course Jones, Wood and Bailey are better batsmen than Williams, so no doubt we could have scored 500!

Very good win after being miles behind in the game. Credit to Williams and Sundar for staying patient on a pitch which had calmed down a bit but was still very risky to play shots on. Smart move to send in Sundar ahead of Jones. Won't change our position in the table but it's still (just) a three horse race. Assuming we beat Kent next week, we might catch up a bit on Hampshire, who have to play Yorkshire. Unfortunately, Surrey are playing Warwickshire so no joy for us there.

Have watched Yorkshire at Taunton this week ; with all the absences, look a very moderate team and I will be surprised if they give Hampshire a game next week. I will also be watching that. I tend to base my watching around grounds that I like nowadays.
Somerset fans I spoke to really enjoyed Southport.

I'm fortunate I can have a game on my second monitor at work. Currently watching the end of Gloucestershire and Hampshire, love the look of the Cheltenham ground.

I presumed it meant that, but wasn't sure if it had been autocorrected, or was just some modern Lancastrian tweak on Cockney rhyming slang. Sawn off Shotgun Shotgun wedding Wedding Day Day light robbery

Good win after a poor 1st innings especially as Lancs had to score the highest innings in the match to win. Surrey and Hants won again. I think we need them to slip up for us to catch them though Surrey have yet to lose a CC game this season.

113 needed with 8 wickets left, looking good 93 needed with 7 wickets left, still looking good 86 needed with 5 wickets left, not so sure now! I know the hours were adjusted to allow for 30 minutes extra on days two to four, but if the Lancs Twitter was updated on time, it seems they didn’t finish until after 8 p.m. What was that all about? We could have closed just two or three down! Usual 96 overs plus 8 for the shortened Tuesday, 8 for the bad light on Wednesday making 112 altogether. Then a 20 minute hold up for rain which would take it to nearly 7.30 anyway. All teams are slow these days so 7.54 it finished! Neither side were docked points for slow over rate.
