It's going that way did notice Somerset had lost by 2 pm, it's a shame really but again they have pratted around with it over the years, still cannot beat the Gillette Cup when it was in it's infancy. 60 overs time to build up an innings, more of a proper game and then came the Sunday League, the rate of scoring started to increase, then came 20/20 and now we have a pub game for those who don't like cricket by playing a game of cricket. Ah well, onto today, even Lancashire cannot possibly foul this one up. By the way think we stand a great chance of actually winning this competition

Blatherwick’s picked up a couple of wickets but he’s being carted all over. I’d rather have Bailey there. I would like to see Bailey and Williams fit and rested for the final three championship games. I would play them in some of the RLC games but I think the right thing to do is to rotate the fast bowlers in these games. Disappointed that Bell isn't playing.Bell for who? Bohannon? I was watching the game against Cumbria. Bohannon only scored in singles in his first 21 balls (17 scored from 21 balls) but ended up with 51* from 39 balls so scored 34 from his last 18 balls (which the kind of acceleration which Lancs coaching staff will want to see at the end of an innings). Lancs were looking in a bit of mess until Lamb came in and established a partnership with Bohannon. Bell scored 7 from his first 5 balls (without scoring a boundary), then two dots and lost his wicket to an 18 year old playing his third game for Cumbria. I see there was a temp stand and a large crowd today, not sure why they play at Sedbergh without a temp stand. But glad they do!

Good win considering Yorkshire scored over 300 in their previous game here.

Bohannon is a class batsmen in my view ( although not suited to T20 IMHO). I was very impressed by Bell in the T20 against Durham at Blackpool. Against Cumberland he came in with less than four overs remaining, not the best opportunity. For me Jones has been around a long time and has not been consistent enough. Assuming Croft and Vilas will be around next year I would release Jones as things currently stand.

Thought Lancs might have been in trouble after the decent start Yorkshire got, and all the no balls and wides Lancs were bowling. But fair play, once the wickets started to fall Lancs kept them falling at a steady pace. Didn't see much of the batting as I had to do some work, but it seemed comfortable enough from what I saw and how they were done by 42 overs.

With regard to the RL 50, do we take it that James Anderson would rather commentate on The Hundred than play for his county in this competition?
Or could he be under a “must rest” directive from the ECB?

There is enormous pressure on leading players to endorse/publicise The Hundred and pretend that it is a significant and meaningful competition. tbh, although it originally brought him to fame, I don't think 50 over cricket has been Jimmy's game for a long time now.

Although its got more prominence lately with Bairstow and Stokes dropping tournaments because they need rest, I'm sure its been a thing for top cricketers for a while. Jimmy is no spring chicken, and has probably decided a while back that CC or test matches is what he wants to play in and keep his career going as long as he can. And the ECB probably encourage him on that. Mental health is also a factor for sports people and Jason Roy seems to have had some struggles there. County fans get frustrated because they want their teams best players playing for them. Having a massive squad and a good collection of players who can and are willing to play in all formats will be important going forward, as the squad would have to be really huge to be able to cover all formats with no players overlapping.
