I don't think 50 over cricket has been Jimmy's game for a long time now. I thought he had played in the RL50 relatively recently so I had a check and, indeed, he played for us in 2019; of course there was no competition in 2020. Against Middlesex at Lord’s he took just the one wicket, but I can recall a couple of sources saying how well he had bowled.

Interesting that they have not replaced Jennings in the squad, just shifting down from 14 to 13. Not tempted to give a youngster further experience at senior squad level.

Dave, Jimmy did bowl well in that match, he also executed a couple of brilliant run outs.

I don't doubt that Jimmy is still capable of putting in a good stint in 50-over cricket but , if you look at his performances when he was a regular in the Lancs List A side, they're not great.

Bell and Balderson should play otherwise the batting balance of the side changed.

His T20 performances certainly weren’t. I still have nightmares about the treatment Laurie Evans dished out to him in the 2014 Final, (which I think was his last ever game).

Lost the toss bowling, looks like there are some server issues with the board so patience required

249 to win good spell by Wells did pretty well considering how warm it is, wicket doesn't look like it's full of runs and we may have to work hard for this. Washington injured suspect won't bat

Fair play to Jones here steadying the innings after a loss of a few wickets, and then upping it a bit to push Lancs on. Bell doing alright too.

Straightforward win in the end but could easily have gone wrong chasing on a slow, tricky pitch after an exhausting stint in the field. Fine knock by Jones: grasped the situation perfectly, kept Bell calm in the early part of the partnership and didn't try to play a single risky shot. Very good opening partnership by Wells and Balderson, getting us well ahead of the rate before the runs dried up.

We're really seeing some good performances in this competition. Buttler, Livingstone and Salt playing in The Hundred, Jennings with the Lions and Vilas injured, yet the management was still confident enough to rest Bohannon and let Balderson and Bell fill the gaps. A comprehensive win with five overs to spare, adding to comfortable victories against Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
I've been one of the first to wonder why Jones keeps getting contract extensions when, in his 7th season, he still can't be certain of a place when some of the absentees are available. His best season was 2019, when he averaged 36 in the first class game, albeit in the second division. But he's played two excellent knocks in the last two RL 50 games, to add to scoring vital runs against Warwickshire and Kent in the championship. He clearly has a lot of talent but has lacked consistency over the years.
What was the problem with Sundar? Given he didn't even bowl, was he injured fielding? I believe he's on his travels soon though.
Edit: just to mention also what an improvement this kit is, compared with that wishy-washy green horror we played in a few years back!

Bohannon has a finger injury.
