I was surprised and disappointed we weren't in for George Scrimshaw. Proper wheels, seemingly increasingly durable. Perhaps more of a white ball bowler, but would have been interesting.
There's a lad called Rob Hull at Leicester, tall left armer, very promising.
In batters, Kiran Carlson at Glamorgan has kicked on this season.

As Bumble remarked recently, the players most likely to take wickets in the later stages at OT are good wrist spinners and genuinely fast seamers. Unfortunately, we've driven out our good wrist spinner and our only genuine quicks are either injury-prone (Mahmood) or hopelessly inconsistent (Blatherwick). No idea where their replacements are going to come from.

I don't think we are going to bring in any domestic signings. The likes of Aspinwall Hurst Singh and Boyden move up the food chain. Overseas signings will be vital, we can't afford another DGH. Genuinely quick bowler, or 2 or 3 short term ones and a spin bowling all rounder

So I'd be inclined to ignore an overseas batsman for next season and put all the money into a strike bowler or two.

Completely agree. We are well supplied with good batters (for a change!) but our bowling cupboard is very bare. I wonder at what point the cricketing media will inquire into what now looks like the constructive dismissal of Parkinson?

If they have fallen out and come to an agreement, that will be confidential.
Agree a quick bowler should be the priority. Wood and Mahmood may play more white ball than red- Blatherwick has pace but is still erratic, and Bailey and Williams will have another year on the clock.
Makes getting rid of our leggie even more foolish imho.....

We're not going to be able to get any genuinely quick bowlers from overseas given the IPL and World T20.
Scott Boland would be my pick, if available. Plenty quick enough for the Championship and should take millions of wickets.

Aussie bowlers have gone well this year. Both Chris Tremain and Sean Abbott have been standout for their counties.

Bailey and Williams are both high quality seamers I am not sure a bowler of a similiar pace is really required- more variation is needed, although Boland is an excellent bowler. A bowler in the mid-high 80s should a realistic signing. Or a spinner perhaps.

The squad is paper thin. Two overseas would boost it but getting guys better than we have to come over for most or all of our season with a packed international calendar is hard. There was a rumour of John Simpson coming back home but I doubt it was anything more than that. Chilton talked of a batter who bowls off spin. Cameron Steel is a batsman who bowls leg spin and is in and out of the Surrey side and I don't think has renewed for next year. Not a star but a decent cricketer. Most decent players have been renewed or moved by now. Can't see many domestic players who wouldn't block potentially better youngsters that we have. Has anyone heard anything. Any news or views on Blatherwick renewing? Cameron Steel just signed a deal new with Surrey.

Ollie Price of Gloucestershire is a terrific prospect- consistent number 3 batsman who bowls very serviceable off breaks.

Any one know anything about this fast bowler they have signed form worcs I've got to admit I have never heard of him. The DOC describes him as a raw talent, I recall the same was said about Blatherwick 3 years ago. Hope he does well for us but a 12 months contract suggests a gamble.

Sounds like another rough diamond a la Wood and Blatherwick.
Can't blame the club for this kind of signing tbh. It appears we're massively in debt due to the necessary ground improvements, so we need to take a few gambles.
