Not gone today but can’t see that anything can be learnt about Fielding in that match situation.
It’s the old debate over whether that type of pitch does anyone any good. On the one hand there is a view that bowlers need to learn to bowl long disciplined spells without wickets coming easily. That was something that Parkinson and Mahmood seemed to have learnt . We won’t benefit from Parky now and I have grave doubts about Mahmood as there seem to be murmurings that he doesn’t like bowling at anything less than 100% fitness whereas Jimmy says seam bowlers always have niggles.

Not sure about Boyden. Singh not playing must be injured.

May be something we haven’t been told( no change there) but what on earth is the point of playing JJ Fielding below Danny Lamb?
Re Danny Lamb, what has happened there? He was no Parky but two years ago he seemed to be a competent County cricketer who was getting the best out of himself.

But have noticed in both games the anonymous 2nd XI reporter apparently thinks that it's JJ's dad who is playing. Keeps referring to Jon Fielding. Maybe it is him. Who knows with Lancashire. Inept at times both on and off the field. (or is that too strong).
Danny Lamb was very much part of the first team even last year. Ever present in the blast (17 games) plus 9 list A and 4 first class.
I've only known two players to be dropped from the academy and after that fight themselves back into Lancs' plans; Parry and Reece. But it's strange JJ is batting so low. There must be dozens of better bowlers in the leagues, yet he was even bowling a bit last game. I would have expected a teenager to be playing 8 or 9 for seconds before they gave anyone a second chance. As you say they are learning nothing, other than he isn't really an opener, a role into which they forced him last year.
If they lose Wells to a franchise from their List A squad, I hope he gets a game. But it looks as if he's behind all the top order in today's game, but unless they are planning something why play him?

Maybe they are trying to win the second eleven championship. Cover up failings and alot of investment for little result. Keep people in jobs?
No other logic in Lamb playing.

Quite a chase from Notts that to win the game.
On the face of it a very poor effort from the bowlers but they will have played knowing the devastating news about the loss of David Moss so that has to be taken into account.

That's sad to hear, had missed that announcement, he had done a great deal for Lancashire cricket.
The 2nds also had to do without Aspinwall who did not bowl (although he took a catch) and very few overs from Boyden. Basically Dickinson, Birkman and Barnard bowled most of the day with only a little support from Lamb and Boyden.

There's been 2 CC matches in the last 7 weeks.

There's been 2 CC matches in the last 7 weeks. Still struggling with winning a seconds match due to first choice first team members in the first three innings. Least they had the grace to hold back Bohannon (and Lamb) in the fourth innings.
Would surely have struggled to win without Morley's wickets (currently the front line spinner) and first innings runs from Bohannon and Jones.
Very least there is a problem with known withdrawals being selected for the first half of the match. Fine, if a second XI player is unexpectedly called up to first team duty mid match, but Jones was always going to be in the T20 squad.
And often backfires , e.g. how match practice some of them get? When we are continually told players need rest.
