Lancs need to think about moving on Vilas and Croft at the end of this season. Time for younger guys. Which younger guys? Rob Jones, Harry Singh? Or do we try and sign somebody from another county?
Jennings is injured and the answer is to push George Balderson up the order to open.
Daryl Mitchell arrives next week I would expect him to bat at 4 and replace Vilas or Croft in the championship side.

I hear ya, but poor planning on the part of management doesn't make it any less true. Maybe Jones should be given a run so he sinks or swims. We have a lot of players who play very little for the county because of hundred, IPL and Internationals. I know thats how cricket is, and if players perform well they will be picked for other competitions. But Lancs have a lot, and maybe nothing can be done about it or maybe some better decision making at the top can help make this better. What is the point of Buttler and currently Phil Salt? I'm just frustrated by it all, I want to see my county winning stuff.

Maybe I'm being harsh, lol, seeing as we've taken 4 wickets already. Hopefully there will be a result in this game as least.

From Notts Forum
“ Notts allowed Lancashire to add a crucial 59 for the last two wickets as Bailey blasted 48 off 29 balls (6x4, 2x6) aided by negative field settings with too many men stationed on the boundary”
Now where have I heard that before?
I know the players and coaches know far more about the game than I ever will. Nevertheless, in your mid 60s after 45 years watching the game, you would have to be pretty stupid not to pick up patterns . Glad we benefitted but we’ll be doing the same before too long ; maybe after a couple more wickets in this match. It never works.

A good fight back with the ball, but the two old boys at the crease have scored quickly and look as if they could cause us problems.

David Hopps had us ahead on the first day in his Cricinfo match report and that it was a day that favoured bat over ball.
I'm with Des, the negative fields to tail enders don't make much sense to me, particularly when teams are 8 down for not that many. Hopps noted that Bailey's batting contribution was significant in the match context.

Yes, Notts did us a favour with their field settings. Let's hope we don't return the favour (but we probably will). We won't be ahead much longer if we don't dislodge Hameed, whose recovery at Notts reflects poorly on both our man management and our batting coaching.

Quite, Exile , which is why I am concerned at the Parkinson developments. I know you can’t keep every player but wicket taking leg spinners don’t grow on trees.
Not sure about the batting coaching at Lancs being to blame re HH though Allott’s man management seemed Neanderthal . Chilton who was the batting coach at the time was honest enough to say that he couldn’t teach Hameed anything. The season he got the two Roses centuries he looked pretty well perfect.I think it started to go wrong when he played more one day cricket though it has probably helped him in the end be more positive.
Good to see him doing well. He looked in such a mess in Australia where he was so far back in the crease he couldn’t get properly forward rather like the technical fault that found out G Ballance at Test level.
