It was mentioned on one commentary recently, I think at Somerset, that Bailey’s bowling average is a lot better than Anderson’s. . Admittedly Jimmy’s is at a higher level, but it shows what an excellent county pro Bailey is.
As regards Hameed, he had three seasons of failure/relative failure, how much longer would people like to have retained him in the hope he might have come good again?

Lancs struggling to take these last wickets. Spells of struggling to take wickets has been a common theme this season so far. I don't think we've been consistent with either bat or ball.

The question is why he went from failure to success when he moved to Notts. Is it down to man management or coaching or something else? |

Probably more a case of poor man management than poor coaching but it's not easy to disentangle the two. If the gossip is right, Hameed's father, who has always been his coach, was telling him one thing and the Lancs coaches were telling him another. Hameed's resistance to the idea that he should follow the club's advice whenever it clashed with that of his father was probably what did for him in the eyes of super-authoritarian Allott. The first thing Peter Moores is supposed to have said to Hameed is that Notts would be perfectly happy for Hameed to be coached by his father and he hasn't looked back since.
I agree with Des that the Parkinson situation is alarming. I wonder what he has done to offend the management?
Added later: Hameed finally undone by a jaffa from Williams. I would have liked him to get three more runs.

Lancs need to think about moving on Vilas and Croft at the end of this season. Time for younger guys.
Jennings is injured and the answer is to push George Balderson up the order to open.
Daryl Mitchell arrives next week I would expect him to bat at 4 and replace Vilas or Croft in the championship side.Well it would have to be Vilas or De Grandhomme, can't play 3 overseas players |
