Yes you're right there was a catch he took at OT in the Blast without any celebration and he threw the ball to the ground. Strange character who apparently doesn't like any form of criticism towards him on social media.
Once that is accepted, for me, the more interesting aspect is to look at it from a managerial point of view. I doubt this was dealt with exclusively by the coach who would, to my mind have overall responsibility for the 1st team squad and should have sorted it. Would it not fall into the category of him telling his manager about something, but this is what I've done/going to do. But I doubt that happened, I would expect more people including the DoC were involved.
But why was a player who would give you at best a dozen Blast games each season be prioritised over someone who conceivably could have played every match for the club and been a match winner in more than some? That's the impossible question without knowing anything about fault and circumstance. But surely the Management mis managed the situation, or is that just me with the benefit of hindsight? It's not even a commercial decision, shirt sales don't apply in cricket. Better stop there.
Playing devil's advocate if it comes down to the two players we are talking about then Lancashire have a vested interest/love affair with the sub continent. Our two biggest profile players both ply their trade in the IPL. Remember a couple of years ago when it was Buttlers birthday, the IPL was on due to covid delays, Lancashire made a big deal of showering him with a massive bunch of red roses, crass I know but the aim was for all of Buttlers Indian fans to see who Buttler occasionally turns out for in England. Look at the international fixture list for Old Trafford for the next eight years and it screams India... maybe I'm getting too old and cynical!
