Unlike Buttler and Livingstone, Salt played several first-class games last season, is it thought he’s not going to play any in 2024? I wrote about this in October under Salt's thread. If he is given a run with England he'll barely feature for Lancashire. |

If he is given a run with England he'll barely feature for Lancashire.Think he schedule may be two max (in August) assuming:
IPL to end May, so first seven rounds missed. ICC T20 World Cup in WIndies in June so that's rounds 8 & 9 gone. September is T20s & ODIs v Australia that's round 12, 13 & 14 missed. If he's in the squads (playing or not) for all those he will be rested in by ECB for two rounds in August after playing in their franchise in July. |

Since I originally posted this Lancs have signed Bruce and Salt was not selected by the IPL.
So updated:
The Lancs squad for the 2024 county championship season is now 22 players: Batsmen: 1.Jennings* 2. Wells* 3. Bohannon* 4. Bruce* 5. Singh All rounders: 6. Balderson* Keepers: 7. Salt*
8. Bell* 9. Hurst 10. Lavelle Quicks: 11. Bailey* 12. Williams* 13. Wood 14. Mahmood 15. Blatherwick 16. Aspinwall 17. Stanley 18. Boyden 19. Anderson* Spinners: 20. Lyon* 21. Hartley 22. Morley
Croft (T20 only), Buttler, Livinsgtone (IPL, ICC, ODIs), Anderson (first half season only, perhaps every other game).
* possible first choice Surely there is enough cover? Any more and they just get stuck in the seconds or farmed out on loan? As it is Hartley might be playing a test for England but not in Lancashire's first team. Batting may look a little short but then all the keepers would consider themselves batsmen.

Squad and fixtures for pre season tour to Dubai and Bangalore announced:
Lancs website manage to explain that Anderson and Hartley are not going to Dubai as they are playing in tomorrow's Test.
Buttler, Livingstone and Wood not going due to being involved in the IPL. (Apparently Wood is an injury replacement for RCB).
Long explanation as to why Mahmood is not going to India.
But no mention Salt or Stanley at all.
Maybe Phil Salt will not be available for the first few championship games.

This slots nicely into the schedule between the T20 world cup and Hundred for franchise players . With the IPL before the world cup and England white ball games in September I don't think we will see Butler, Livingstone or Salt playing for Lancashire this year and Luke Wood's availability could also be very limited.

112 runs behind after the first innings.
103/1 to 144/6 and 244/7 to 244 ao
Runs for Jennings (as expected against spin) and Hurst plus 30/20s from Bohannon, Aspinwall and Singh.
