Good knocks by Vilas, Wells and Bell. Need some early break throughs to give us a chance of a win. Will the weather co-operate?

Vilas's last game for Lancs so got to ring the bell. C stand open to give him some not so distant farewell applause but now B closed... Hopefully Bell can get maiden 100 then have a bowl. Lancs clearly prefer to throw away 4 wickets in 17 balls rather than declare! Whose in charge the batsmen or the captain?
Vilas given a guard of honour so clearly isn't going to play the home match against Notts, or will they give him two guard of honours? Maybe not field this afternoon? Or does it all get repeated again later on today?

Yes I couldn't understand why when Bell was out we didn't declare. Little chance of getting another batting point.

Report on BBC says Vilas is done after today. Wonder why he didn't stay for the last 2?

At Edgbaston the captains have colluded to setup a game. Warwickshire have been set 176 in 60 overs which seems very generous.

Report on BBC says Vilas is done after today. Wonder why he didn't stay for the last 2? Retiring after scoring a ton seems like a pretty good way to go out to me. Now gives Lancashire the opportunity to play a young tyro like Steven Croft, or a long term prospect such as Rob Jones in the last two games of the season.

Too true!
In the meantime yet another draw at OT looms as the wicket goes into its customary dead mode. Lancs will never win the CC unless they take drastic action over the pitches, which they won't do as they seem to take a perverse pride in producing pitches that last for ever.

Both teams lined up to applaud Vilas onto pitch as you do when you play your last game
