Lancashire drawn 8 games, no other first division county drawn more than 5.
Many more drawn matches in division two for some reason.

Disappointed that Northants setting Warwickshire less than three an over has cost us a place in the table. and potentially Middlesex may stay up thanks to the bowling points we given them today rather than declaring over night at 330/5

Disappointed that Northants setting Warwickshire less than three an over has cost us a place in the table. Warwickshire only got home thanks to an unbroken 8th wicket partnership of 52. Burgess was dropped with 20 odd still needed so Northants came close to winning it. I watched the last few overs on the stream after the Lancs game finished and the wicket didn't seem to be doing enough particularly untoward.

Good to see Dane Vilas bow out with a hundred after what has been a difficult season for him. He has been a great player for us and an excellent captain. I was lucky enough to be at Colwyn Bay when he got his 266.

Disappointed that Northants setting Warwickshire less than three an over has cost us a place in the table. I would think it was more a case of Warwickshire telling Northamptonshire what they were prepared to chase. Warks held all the aces going into the final day, midtable security so no pressure re title or relegation. Meanwhile Northants had to win the game to stand any chance at all of staying up, a draw was no good to them, so they would've had to agree to almost anything. I remember a few years ago a similar thing happened for the CC Div 1 title when 3 counties were involved, Middlesex, Yorkshire and Somerset.

Although I didn't see the point of batting on once Bell was out, I don't think our tactics mattered today: even if it hadn't rained, the match would always have been drawn. Every CC match at OT has been drawn this season, partly because of our own shortcomings but mainly because of the awful pitch. For some reason, Lancs are proud of creating pitches on which almost every match peters out into a stalemate.

Allott claimed this afternoon that there was a big internal debate at the club about how to change the pitches.

If you have a policy of producing "result" pitches then you need to have the bowling attack able to exploit it which Lanc's doesn't have. After Bailey/Williams have completed their opening spells then there isn't much to carry on the attack especially in the spin department.

Yes, of course we should have declared at 400 - batting on to no purpose is an old Lancs fault that has arguably cost more than one championship - but the outcome in this case would have been the same. Interesting that there is a debate within the club about how to change the pitches. How long has this debate been going on? It was widely remarked in 2011 that Lancs won the title because they didn't have to play at OT.

Well in 2011 Lancs played 6 games at Aigburth and won 4, lost 1 and drew 1. But Lancs also won 6 other games away from there. We also had a very strong and deep bowling attack in Kerrigan, Hogg, Chapple, Keedy, Mahmood and Tom Smith..

“Good to see Dane Vilas bow out with a hundred after what has been a difficult season for him. He has been a great player for us and an excellent captain. I was lucky enough to be at Colwyn Bay when he got his 266.” Agree with most things you write Alanw and that is still the case here but I really don’t think he has been a good captain. I don’t see that much nowadays because of my dislike of Old Trafford but I see a reasonable amount on the stream and a bit of outground and away games live. To me, he lacks enterprise as has every Lancs captain I’ve ever seen except Jack Bond, David Hughes and Wasim. I do think the players did play for him though as he has great respect from them.
