Just listened to an interesting live discussion on LancsTv. via YouTube between Paul Allott and Scott Reid. What they failed to discuss however was......... Where is James Anderson? ******************************** I think we need to let Jimmy decide what he wants to do. He's in his forties , it looks like he's desperate to have at least one more series with England, he's obviously got his own coaching team with plans, advice etc. You look at a damp, rainy day like today, a fixture that has nothing in it for Lancashire and there's more chance of him picking up an injury which could scupper his (short term) plans. He's not like Joe Root who last year at this time was playing celebrity golf while his county were battling relegation. I'm happy with what Jimmy has given to the Red Rose over the years and if he is now solely thinking about himself I don't blame him...BTW in answer to where he is, last night he was at the City Ground with Stuart Broad watching Forest and Burnley!

Where is James Anderson? ******************************** Interesting, the advantage of rewind: Scott Read on Tom Hartley: "what has been impressive this year in red ball....is to get control and .... actually offer a threat as well" really? Never took more than 2 wickets in an innings despite bowling a dozen or more overs on a dozen occasions.
Then:
Q: Do you see over the next 12 months more opportunity for younger end to come through? A: (not given) That depends whether and who Lancs sign experienced players [from other counties] over the winter.
A: (given) I do.

I don't know how much Anderson makes, but I wouldn't mind his kind of semi retirement.

Only in England could we invent a game that relies on good weather to play.

With another uncertain day ahead weatherwise and a number of members giving today a miss because of the conditions I wonder if Lancashire will take the common sense approach and postpone todays forum for 24 hours and hold it tomorrow when the forecast (at the moment) is much better?

Would be a bit pointless holding it today!

Would be a bit pointless holding it today! Completely agree with you, but this is Lancashire!Bet they hold it today given the lack of either cricket or spectators especially the members who heaven forbid watch 4 day cricket

So if the weather plays ball on Friday and for those members who bother to go to Old Trafford, and their first priority is to actually watch some cricket, the forum will last a maximum of 30 minutes. This smells of rushing it through to avoid any awkward questions.

If we do get play Thurs/Fri, what format will the teams play? I wonder whether just an innings each. Or do they just play out an inevitable draw?

I believe you can only agree a one innings match in advance if there's only a day remaining with play not possible on the preceding three days. Doesn't look as though they'll get a full day's play either today or tomorrow so likely to be all about the bonus points.
