Notts win toss, and unsurprisingly, put us in. Croft, Hurst, Blatherwick & Morley in. Bell down to keep wicket.

If you have an issue better to raise it with Andrew Chris Peacock or the Mrg rather than at a forum. Today only half b lower and half a open to non members. A few people have invaded b upper...

Is there anything stopping both teams declaring after 1 over each of their 1st innings to get this game into a single innings match of say 90 overs each to force a winner? Both teams agreeing to only bat for a max of say 90 overs and whoever has the most runs wins.

Lancs going at a fair lick, but maybe that suggests the pitch is good for batting and we'll just end up with a stalemate.

I've finally declared for the season. After the two washed out days I couldn't be bothered driving through from Preston this morning just to watch a non event. For the first time I can remember I'm not too bothered that the season is coming to an end. The weather has been very poor, Lancs have flattered to deceive in all formats, the wickets at OT get blander by the year and visiting Old Trafford has not been a pleasant experience. My happy memories of the season are all based on watching cricket at Trent Bridge, The Oval, Northampton, Southport and Blackpool, grounds where you could actually choose where you want to sit.

Agree with nearly all of your sentiments there John W. I’ve also declared but in my case sad at the season ending because the league cricket I’ve watched has been so wonderful ; proper cricket and with Rainford’s team full of good grass roots “ creekeeters “ as David Lloyd would have called them. I expect less and less pleasure from mainstream sport as each year goes by. Love watching these lads who love their sport more than what they might earn from it.

However, and I’ve not looked closely at the table , suspect Notts will be happy with a draw and a few bonus points rather than prospect of losing with no bonus points.

Lancs on a hiding to nothing on this typical OT slow seamer. They can grind along, as Croft is doing (17 off 60 balls), or they can play shots and get out unless very lucky.

It's more likely that the 2nd and 3rd innings would be forfeited, take the bonus points available in the first innings and set Notts up with a chase on the last day. But Lancashire will need a few more runs first. The tail would have to score / be allowed to score 200 or Notts forfeit and allow Lancs to add more, quickly, in a second innings before declaring.

So a team can forfeit an innings if they want to?
How would other teams think about that? I mean if teams are involved in a championship chase or a relegation scrap? Like in football teams grumble if a weakened team is played and it helps a team fighting at the bottom.

Yeah, I think if I was in Notts place I might take the draw too. While even though there isn't much consequence for Lancs, I'd be trying to win in their position, because I want to win if I can.
