So a team can forfeit an innings if they want to? How would other teams think about that? I mean if teams are involved in a championship chase or a relegation scrap? Like in football teams grumble if a weakened team is played and it helps a team fighting at the bottom. It would be by agreement of both teams and of the ECB game manager.

If I remember correctly in the days of three day championship cricket in the late 1970s/ early 80s there was a rule that if a game did not start before tea on the second day the match became a single innings game with the winner taking 12 points. In those days it was still 16 points for a win with no extra points for a draw. It was standard practice for captains to collude on the third day to setup a 4th innings run chase often with the team batting second declaring behind. I remember watching Steve O'Shaughnessy and Graeme Fowler both scoring centuries in less than 40 mins off the bowling of David Gower.

I thought Hurst was 19 not 20, playfair has his birth date as December 2003 Wel you would think the club may get it right but there again it is Lancashire Report is under the name of Ken Grime not even the ECB network. He has had problems in the past with a player's age. He once told me, despite all the evidence, that he knew Adrian Shankar was 23 not 26. Of course he was wrong then as well. Hurst is 19 will only be 20 in December. It is correct on their own and everyone else's website.
Croft fc debut 25 May 05, Hurst born 10 Dec 03. 17 months, 15 days earlier: just about 18 months old.

One of the more pointless matches it is fair to say- the very definition of batting practice.
Maybe Crofty will have a bowl this afternoon by way of farewell?
Hirst has his 50 at least.
