INMHO Jimmy is past his best, this has been evident in his performances for both England and Lancashire this summer. Having said that I think he could still be picked for the India tour. I am sure he will be in conversation with Stokes and McCullum about how he fits in to England’s plans and certainly wont have to wait for a press release to find that he has not been selected. Looking ahead to the tour of India I think England will want to take five fast bowlers plus Stokes. With the retirement of Broad these are the candidates which come to mind:
Ollie Robinson Josh Tongue Mark Wood Olly Stone (injured) Chris Woakes (poor record overseas) Jofra Archer (injured) Sam Cook
So I think Jimmy could be selected for India. It might make sense for England to blood new fast bowlers next summer in home series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka.

Jamie Overton is definitely in the mix toured Pakistan last winter can bat as well.

Well he has been offered another central contract for 2023-2024 so he will be going to India. Think it will be Anderson, Robinson, Wood, Tongue and Atkinson.
2 matches in Pakistan 8 wickets at 18.50 2 matches in New Zealand 10 wickets at 16.80 4 matches Ashes 5 wickets at 85.40 - worst ever figures for him. I think he had trouble with his groin. Bowled more maidens 37 (4 matches) than the whole Australian team 34. He has never had a good record against Australia unlike Broad, but never THAT bad.
Broad has an end named after him at TB. I don't know why they waited until he retired. Should have done it when he got 500 wickets like Anderson.
I think they will name a Lions squad to tour UAE to play against the England players in December to get them ready for India - maybe the Lions will also go to India. Dropped catches in their career Broad 142 Anderson 137.

It would seem unlikely that he plays next summer though. We need to start building for the next Ashes tour and next summer's itinerary offers the perfect opportunity. Hopefully he plays another couple of years for Lancs. He's said he wants to carry on and he's still plenty good enough for the Championship. We should also be trying to get him into a coaching role as well. If nothing else, it will make us a much more compelling proposition for young bowlers from other counties. They will need more seamers than that in India.
Carse has bowled very well in the white ball stuff against NZ- he has really come on as a bowler.
Matt Potts can bowl long spells as well and is an intelligent bowler despite not having express pace.
I would expect both to be in contention for India, especially given Wood's fitness record and their wish to conserve the young quickies.

I imagine that they won't take more than 6 fast bowlers, Stokes being one, after his knee op. They will only play 3 at the most. I think Carse will be going instead of Woakes.

I'm sure I read that Jimmy has a new central contract but I can't see it anywhere, they were announced in October last year, might imagine it will be after the World Cup.

Mail
On Thursday Flintoff was in attendance at Loughborough as a 21-strong group prepares for the three-week trip starting on November 16. He is sharing mentoring duties on the tour with fellow Ashes 2009 winner Graeme Swann.
Joining former England captain Flintoff in Abu Dhabi will be a collection of England Test players upping their fitness levels ahead of January’s tour of India including Jimmy Anderson, Ben Foakes and Ollie Robinson, with Ollie Pope and Jack Leach also there to stop up their comebacks from injury.
So 25 players in all. Glad they are taking Anderson, Foakes and Leach. They are going to need Foakes' keeping in India. Bairstow can have a rest.

700 reached. If he is given the opportunity and progresses to 709 and beat Warne's 708 then it's not far to 1000 international wickets. Currently 700 + 269 ODI + 18 IT20 = 987

At a guess doubt whether any new test bowler will ever get close to that
