Just noticed only 5 home games and 11 away. Not good for members who like to watch the 2nds, but when did members count. In the second X1 Championship it is 4 home and 5 away, but 2 home and 6 away in the T20 for some reason. The balance swings further as next week's game at Northern is now switched to Egbaston, as Northern aren't confident they can prepare a pitch.
Next home game 29 May. A single T20 match.

Lavelle scored 107* yesterday. If you are going to score runs for the second XI make sure you score them at Old Trafford...... Lavelle, Aspinwall (Lancs) Hogg, De Leede (Dur) called up for 1st XI duties, replaced by Dickinson, Moores (Lancs) Sowter (Dur) so Joe Moores arrives on the scene.
Mahmood batting at the moment must have needed a rest yesterday following his 9 overs on the previous day. Not necessarily a good sign with regard to his 1st XI comeback.

Slow and steady I would imagine after a second stress fracture, surely another serious injury would finish him off. He's showed remarkable endurance and dare I say bravery to come back from two serious injuries. |

up and running today. Ollie Sutton (Formby) playing against Lancashire. Bit bizarre they haven't at least added Matty Hurst after the original team was announced, for some batting practice.
ETA: Aspinwall retired hurt injured. Maybe as well they have 6 pace bowlers in the side, rather than play Hurst.

A ton for Rocky Flintoff! Who was the last 16 year old to do that for us? His dad, I suspect. 109* in his third second XI championship four months short of his 17th birthday. I wondered about Hameed, but he was 18 when he first hit 3 figures in third season in the 2s. Others who recently debuted at 16 include Glen Chapple, Vishal Tripathi (first century at 19). Karl Brown was 15 but scored 4 & 15 on his debut but was 17 before he scored a 100 for the seconds.
Fielding, Hurst, Bell, Singh and Dickinson also teenage centurians for the seconds.

Game against Worcester cancelled as a mark of respect to Josh Baker.
Lancashire seconds now play a 2 day game friendly starting on Tuesday against SACA at Sale. (Almost a home game)

With cancellation of the 4 day (Monday to Thursday) seconds match replaced a 2 day SACA friendly (being today and tomorrow) finishing well in advance of the trip to Trent Bridge on Thursday for Friday you might expect a bit of batting practice in the middle. But no:

H Singh, CJ Dickinson, GID Lavelle*†, TH Aspinwall, GK Reddy, JM Blatherwick, AR Shetty, JA Boyden, CL Flintoff, JA Dunn, CM Barnard
Will any of the above will be in the Trent Bridge squad. Only change in the squad for Trent Bridge being Mahmood for Blatherwick?
