TBAs all annouced: Warwickshire at Northern, Worcester at Kidderminster, Middlesex at Aigburth, Durham (both at Riverside), Yorkshire at Westhoughton. Also 3 day pre season friendly at Hampshire 3-5 April.
Watershed year: 10 x T20 competition 9 x 4 day championship (plus one friendly). First ever time majority of the 2nds competitive games are T20 and a minority are championship?

At least means they will have far more cricketing time than T20 time. I made a tongue in cheek remark about Tom Hartley the other day skippering the seconds. Seriously, with Lyon how much will he get to play in firsts ? Could be first choice Test spinner of course with Leach’s fitness record. I remember Dom Bess having a good Test in India and then being in Somerset seconds much of following season. Cricket is such a leveller. |

Same in 2021 and 2022. Not counting friendlies. |

Thanks Chris. I’m amazed ; didn’t remember it as being anything like that many as I’m always on look out for ones to go to. I remember a game at Northern being washed out last year .

Was a bit surprised at this possibly and I'm guessing it may be if the forecast is iffy they play Kent decent forecast they play us, odd though Another possibility is that the injury situation at the club is building up. The first team are playing Surrey from 5th. I suspect they will want to keep at least 13-14 up North. Since agreeing the fixture they will have lost Salt and Wood to the IPL and at least Blatherwick injured. Possibly neither Mahmood or Stanley are ready for a three day match. What is left?
The game is before club cricket starts so they would really need this team to be without trialists as they would not/ hardly have played yet. Why would they pick someone for a three day who has not played a single club game this season?
Possibly only Morley, Lavelle, Boyden and Singh available plus Barnard, Carney, Fonseka might be in full training. Still only half a team. Although it's difficult to name 13 or 14 to face Surrey without involving any of those.
They will be in the loan market next.
