Looks windy out there. Measured start from Keaton and Luke. Not sure why Bell has been dropped in favour of a journeyman Kiwi. Nothing against Bruce but Bell looks a class prospect. He needs to be playing. Journeyman's Bruce's First Class record is not too shabby: 5498 runs, 10 centuries in 78 matches. Top Score 208* average 49.53 should end up top scorer for Lancs this year.
Bohannon averages 48+ in 61 matches 3731 runs (for Lancashire), Jennings averages 47+ 4141 runs in 63 matches (again for Lancashire).

Neither scoreboard working at the moment apparently I was just about to post about the scoreboards. The electronic boards that run across B and C stands were working but now they've packed up. PA guy now telling us the score, that's when he remembers! It's not taken long but first cock up of the season at the world class venue. Also half of B upper has been closed, might be wind issues?

So you would prefer them to pick him over Bell? Interesting. And those stats are in nz where fc cricket isnt that amazing. As i said no issue with the bloke but Bell needs to be playing he is a terrific young prospect. We have plenty of experience as it is.

Given the availability of the top international / overseas players these days, the overseas signing has to be from the next tier down. Imagine if they had not signed an overseas bat to replace the experienced Vilas? A response of "No need with have George Bell?" would hardly have kept the Members happy. But after he / anyone's signed, what is the point of not playing him? He seems to me to be more likely to score 800-1000 runs than anyone else in the middle order. FWIW I'd have played Bell rather than Hartley.

1 to 3 are very experienced and even Balderson has been around for a while it seems. Hartley is now a test cricketer! I would of preferred them to sign another fast bowler given Mahmoods fitness issues and the fact that Wood seems exclusively white ball these days. In respect of lower tier players, look at Kemar Roach playing for Surrey and Hasan Ali played for us was it two years ago? Colin de grand homme was another journeyman kiwi signed last year who had played internationally and frankly he didn't set the world on fire. Signing experience unless it is a clear upgrade on the alternatives is speculative at best and wasteful at worst.

I think I'd have played Bell instead of one of the spinners. Lyon would depend for me on what his actual availability is. If its 7 games no matter what and when they are then it might have made sense to leave him out of this one. But then again, with how unpredictable the weather is, it might be we need to pick him for any game we get play in.

Wells out, I missed his wicket. Balderson in at 4. Big chance to show he is a top 6 batter.

And Hurst. A pretty feeble collapse on a flat wicket against part time spinners.

And a long tail. Bailey batted pretty well last year. Need to see out today at least.
