www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643123It's time I have just spent 29 days in Southern Spain, it rained quite heavily one evening and there were showers for 3 hours one morning, other than that 27 days of fine/warm weather. I have been back in (de)Preston for 7 days and it has rained on 5 of those days. A sure sign that the cricket season is approaching. So I have decided not to look at the forecast until 8am on Friday 5th April!

I have to tell you John you were jolly lucky! I've been down here in southern Spain exactly one week and the weather has been atrocious! OK the first two days were fine, indeed managed to get a good hike in along the mountain range Sunday, however, since then it's been cool, strong wind and torrential rain for the most part. More rain forecast for the next three days. In fact the famous Easter week parades have had to be cancelled. They do say though that 'every cloud has a silver lining' five years into a serious drought situation down here and the rain is very much needed. I'm pretty much with you though John, I wouldn't take any notice of the forecast for Old Trafford until a few hours before 😊

We generally spend every March down there and I can honestly say on average we get 3 poor/average days out of 28. As you mentioned re the drought situation, the night it poured down the local residents were literally dancing in the streets!

Pope available for Surrey. It's always good to see international players turning out in the CC.

If there'd been a round of matches this Friday-Monday to just gone we would have got three full days play in Herts/Surrey/Sussex with decent viewing conditions for the time of year, very pleasant on Easter Sunday.

Looks like a 13 man squad: Jennings, Wells, Bohannon, Bruce, Bell, Balderson, Hurst, Aspinwall, Bailey, Williams, Lyon, Hartley, Boyden assuming Mahmood, Stanley unfit, Anderson unavailable and that Bruce and Lyon have arrived Morley on loan Wood, Salt, Buttler, Livingstone in IPL Blatherwick, Lavelle, Singh playing in the 2nds.
Only silly videos seem to have been released after yesterday's media day.

Forecast better although still likely to rain Better but still unsettled. Depending on which website you look at it's either heavy showers for most of the first 3 days or periods of dry weather. Toss of a coin really, get lucky and you see a fair amount of play, unlucky and you get drenched (or face the prospect of sitting under the freezing Point). It's a bloody hard decision when you're travelling from Preston. Yes, cricket is back!
