Does anybody know why Liam Livingstone isn't playing in the current game against Gloucestershire? I am assuming that the ECB want him rested but, his next England game will be the T20 against India on the 7th July so that doesn't make sense to me. Farcical really. Suppose we have to be grateful that they have allowed Salt to play! No doubt we will have to do without Livingstone and Salt for the T20 knock outs!

They won't admit it, of course, but the ECB's strategy is to relegate the Blast to the same level as that of the Royal London Cup, so that the pointless circus of "The Hundred" will look good by comparison. To enjoy spectator sport you have to care about the result and no-one can possibly care who wins a match in The Hundred because the teams don't represent anyone. It's just like the Packer nonsense of earlier times.

Yes - seems to have gone backwards recently. His bowling is all at sea as well.

Finally fulfilling his original potential: ECB Central Contract and on the tour to Pakistan.
Except hasn't played a first class game since end August 2021. He managed 6 championship matches that year 77 runs in 7 innings. More games than the two in managed in 2020.
It was in September 2019 that he last scored a first class half century (one in both innings against Middlesex).
Sounds like a number 10 for 11 doesn't it!
Least Lancs won't miss him, he hardly ever plays these days.

I don't understand why Livingstone has gotten called up for the December tests. Jennings I understand, but not Livingstone. Is it to justify giving him a central contract?

Seems a strange choice. Good to see Jennings selected.

Livingstone playing tests means that being a white ball specialist can't be used as an excuse for not playing for Lancs when there is no clash in schedule. Like Jimmy played at the start of the season. Not that it will matter, but you get my drift.

England have played three specialist spinners against Pakistan overseas before, but a change of policy with just one specialist spinner and three part-time off-spinners chosen, hence Livingstone and Jacks selections. Remains to be seen whether it works. A wake up call for Parky, who hasn't been at his best this season and, as Des said, needs to develop more variety.
