Maybe Lancs are thinking that the likes of Hartley and Wells offer enough with the ball but far more in other areas that Parky might be surplus to requirements. Especially if pitches favour quicks or seam bowlers. Maybe a line of thinking that spinners have to be all rounders because too many quicks/seamers are poor with the bat but we need them with the ball so they aren't going anywhere. I really hope that is not the case. IMHO Parky is the best spinner we have and has a role in both white ball and red ball formats. The Old Trafford wickets tend to be flat and the variation Parky gives us significantly increases our chances of bowling sides out twice. It is true that if he had played instead of Hartley in the last two matches we would have had a long tail with Bailey batting at 8. If Lancashire do consider Parky to be surplus to requirements I'm sure there will be plenty of other counties interested in him.

Completely agree Alan. I could be completely wrong but I get the impression there has been a very poor piece of man management here ; we have form in that area.

Late to the party on this one but any news on this? Why on earth was he loaned out. Only 12 months ago he was playing for England and now he can’t get in the side. Something very fishy.

I honestly think, as others have said, a big part of it is in respect of our batting and needing Hartley at 8, particularly as he is one of the few form batsmen in our misfiring batting line up.
As an aside team balance is one of the beauties of the game for me, the struggle for most teams in balancing the batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping in the XI you put out.
It was easy for the great Aussie side a few years ago: six batters, Gilly at 7, four bowlers. Helps enormously if you're opening with Hayden, Ponting comes in middle order and two of the bowlers are Warne and McGrath. The other lads weren't too bad either!
But for most, these compromises to make up the most effective X! are all part of what makes the game so fascinating.

Although it seems Parky's stock has fallen recently, I think it was purely to do with the need to balance the side and the fact that we played three of the first five matches away.
Hartley will become a genuine all-rounder IMO: if we bat him at 7 it'll help us enormously, enabling us to play three proper seamers (plus Baldy) and Parky.
For now, though, I can understand why they went with Hartley and fully expect Parky to come back in in June.

Bowls far to slow and is a liability in the field cant hold a bat as well.

Bowls far to slow and is a liability in the field cant hold a bat as well. Wood 0/55 from 4 Bailey 0/10 from 1 Parkinson 0/14 from 1 Wells 0/20 from 2 Hartley 0/13 from 1
Does the Captain know who to bowl? Or is it give everyone an over to see what works on the night? Why play Bailey rather than Bell to get one over? Any of the four spinners could have bowled that over.

Complete agree, feels like lucky dip and just changing it around in hope.

Yes - no discernible bowling strategy. Luke Wood can't do pace-off but was given four overs. Tom Bailey can do it and was given one over. Parkinson and Hartley both had one expensive over and both were immediately taken off (Parkinson was probably still thinking about that when he dropped Malan). Livingstone's own bowling was among the most effective but he didn't bowl his full allocation. Shambles.

Going back to Parkinson.
Two thoughts: Doesn't look like he will be picked up by a franchise this year so will be playing in the One Day Cup for Lancs Opposition simply not fearing him anymore, and targetting him - bit like Kerrigan

Kerrigan's disastrous experience with England destroyed both his confidence and his action. Parkinson looked absolutely top class on Finals Day last year so something has gone wrong. Lancs are not great at man-management so maybe it will need a move to Notts to put it right...

Totally agree with the lads regards LL captaincy, Not only on the bowling but also the batting line up, why the fook wasnt wells opening left hand right hand with a short boundry on one side , Wells scores as quick as any one as well , and plays spin and pace alike .Baffling . Lancs look a bowler short to me every game they play .How the hell is TB JB still in the white ball side ffs unreal.Got to bounce tonight wont be easy

Totally agree about Wells: wrongly pushed down the order to make way for Buttler - a classic case of changing a winning team for the worse. None of the IPL guys justified their selection. Apart from taking a fine catch, Buttler didn't contribute much at all and got out to a rank bad shot. Livingstone bowled OK but spent his short time at the crease attempting cross-batted swipes (until he connected with one and got out) and his captaincy was dismal. Salt couldn't get the ball off the square and didn't look to have recovered from his back spasm. We had a better team two weeks ago.

Very disappointing news but not a surprise after what has happened this season. I wouldn't be surprised if we sign a replacement.
