Sad day. This has been brewing, this isn’t a player that suddenly drop out of a bit of form. Clearly been an issue behind the scenes with management which has led to in and out of the side and loss of form.
You don’t from playing for England to leaving the club in 12 months. All the best to Parky, we have got every last drop out of him and he’s been fantastic for us.

Sad that it has come to this. Hope he rediscovers his form with a new start.

Surely we need a quality replacement.

Very disappointing news but not a surprise after what has happened this season. I wouldn't be surprised if we sign a replacement. We should try and sign Rehan Ahmed.

Rumours of dressing room unrest

Really sad about this, he's the best spin bowler on the books and it seems a shame that for whatever reason he couldn't build on his international promise while at Lancashire. Wish him all the best at Kent.
In terms of the dressing room on the face of it, it would seem a difficult situation having IPL players jet in and out of the team. It can also be difficult having a big squad with quality players missing out. I have felt the body language, from the skipper in particular, has seemed flat during the T20. Will be interesting to see how we go at the business end of the tournament, starting tonight.

Surely we need a quality replacement. We certainly do! It would not surprise me if a replacement has already been identified. When Alex Davies left there seemed to be a disagreement between Davies and the club over his contract renewal, it was then announced that Davies was going to Warwickshire and then very soon after it was announced that Phil Salt was joining us. Personally I think it diminishes the team when home grown players are replaced by outsiders.

Rehan Ahmed is a good young prospect, he could soon be playing regularly for England, playing in the IPL, etc and not have much time for county cricket.

This can't be for cricketing reasons: Parkinson took six wickets in the opening match against Surrey and since then has not been selected for a CC match. Either there's a disagreement about terms for renewing his contract or he has fallen out with the club hierarchy. The leaked and meaningless comments about his batting and fielding suggest the latter. Cricinfo suggests that "the emergence of...Tom Hartley" is a factor but Hartley hasn't looked at all like an improvement on Parkinson so this is probably another club leak. Also Chilton's "thanks" are perfunctory and lukewarm. Typical Lancs, I'm afraid.

The arrival of the IPL mercenaries may be an aggravating factor, Oldham, but the club's briefing against Parkinson ("can't bat; can't field" etc) began long before this season's T20 Blast. At Lancs, being a good boy has always been more important than being good at cricket and feisty types like Parkinson are usually got rid of in the end.

Agree with other comments as well, wish him well.

When I met Des earlier in the summer we were both of a mind that Lancashire would benefit from greater outside influence in the team management. I don't see any of the openness at Lancashire that characterizes the best teams (and organisations for that matter).

What depressing news! Especially when there is no-one within the squad to replace him. Last season in the 1st Class 33 wickets in 10 games. - 3rd after Bailey and Williams..
Can't afford to lose players of his calibre...relegation beckons???

Think we will avoid relegation, but it may be more difficult to survive any dressing room unrest.
I believe Croft, Vilas, Lamb, Jones and Blatherwick are out of contract in addition to Parkinson.
Letting Lamb go out on loan, and allowing Blatherwick a brief chance to proove himself would be consistent way for Lancs to ease people (post Schofield) out of the door.

There is a lot of talk of dressing room unrest and it has looked many times this season, especially in T20, that the whole is less than the sum of the parts but does anyone have any information beyond rumour?
