I can criticise Jimmy Anderson about some things, such as the bouncer war with India but I would never question his desire to play for Lancashire. That will be ECB . The other two don’t give a monkeys. Livingstone cares, and has played for Lancs more than Anderson and in all 3 formats

I think it's ridiculous attempting to play first class cricket at this time of year. Conditions are going to have a big influence on the outcome and you are going to get weather interruptions. I am also struggling with the concept of this game 1st v 2nd when the county championship was awarded to Warwickshire last week. It made sense last year when the top two teams from the conference had a play off.
I wonder what Bob Willis would have made of this game?

This very late date for the Bob Willis Final Trophy is another issue caused down the line by the dreaded Hundred occupying prime time in high Summer. What should be a showpiece is in danger of becoming a fiasco this week. Shame on the ECB.

I wonder what Bob Willis would have made of this game? He'd have wished he was bowling!! As I don't have Sky, I haven't seen any of the play but I get the impression that, pitch apart, several batsmen such as Bohannon and Jones have been out to poor shots. Anybody watching who can confirm or deny that?

Where as in contrast he has established himself in the England T20 team and had a good Hundred. Can anybody really blame him for going to the IPL to earn some cash and getting some match practice before the World T20 rather than play in a first class game in the last week in September. I think how his season has gone is more about the structure of English cricket than about his desire to play for Lancashire. Jimmy's absence from this game seems totally ridiculous to me. As has been pointed out he has not played for three weeks and his next game is going to be December at the earliest.

If the game is ruined by rain then if I’m led to believe the result is based on the first innings score so we may just be struggling on that

Lancashire look as if they don't want to be there. Realistically there is only one result possible now.

Well it's Warwickshire's trophy whatever happens now because Lancs surely can't win. We've not done anything right in this match so far: batted poorly (in admittedly more than difficult circumstances); bowled poorly, apart from Wood, and have dropped three catches. All this suggests that, subconsciously at least, we're not up for this match.

I'm glad I decided not to travel down for the game. Wonder what Ken Grime will say tonight on the website!
