I'm glad I decided not to travel down for the game. Wonder what Ken Grime will say tonight on the website! It's hard to imagine how it could have gone any worse for us!

Uncle Ken's view
he Bears reinforced their title-winning credentials as Lancashire crashed to 12 for six – and in danger of their lowest-ever first-class total – before scrambling to 78.
Craig Miles inflicted the key blows with four wickets in 13 deliveries, en-route to figures of five for 28, while five Lancashire batsmen failed to score.
Openers Dom Sibley and Rob Yates then cemented Warwickshire’s authority to reach 120 without loss before bad light forced any early end to the day at 5pm.
Warwickshire had secured their first LV= Insurance County Championship title in a decade on Friday, when they defeated Somerset, to deny Lancashire after they had given themselves hope the previous day with a dramatic one-wicket win over Hampshire.
The Red Rose’s consolation was a trip to Lord’s and the opportunity to claim silverware from Warwickshire, the county that Bob Willis played at from 1972 until 1984. Any such ambitions, however, appeared all but lost after just nine overs.
Lancashire’s lowest-ever first-class total was the 25 they managed against Derbyshire way back in 1871 and, at 12 for six, hopes of overhauling that mark felt similarly distant.
Warwickshire had opted to bowl and Liam Norwell struck first, opener George Balderson steering the ball into the cordon, to set the stage for a remarkable first 45 minutes.
Miles then took charge as he made the most of a 10.30am start and the seaming conditions. It was his athleticism, though, that earned his first reward as he raced to dive and catch an inside-edge that looped off Alex Davies’ pad.
Luke Wells and captain Dane Vilas then fell in the same Miles over without scoring. Wells’ off stump was pinned back before a full delivery hit Vilas on the front foot and plumb in front.
Steven Croft bagged the third duck of the innings, trapped lbw on the crease by Miles, and when Norwell had Rob Jones caught behind Lancashire lost their sixth wicket for the addition of four runs in a 38-ball period that left them nervously eyeing an unwanted place in the history books.
Josh Bohannon at least ensured that indignity was avoided, stroking a rare boundary to push the score beyond 25, but it was short relief as he pulled debutant Manraj Johal to mid-wicket.
The teenager then also removed Tom Bailey and Jack Blatherwick either side of lunch to further cheer Warwickshire’s day as he returned figures of 29 for three in an impressive burst.
Luke Wood saved some of Lancashire’s blushes as he opted to attack in the crisis, striking eight fours in his unbeaten 46, before Miles completed his five-for by having last man Matt Parkinson caught behind.
Warwickshire openers Sibley and Yates then secured the first task of the reply as they surpassed Lancashire’s total without the loss of a wicket.
That would be important should rain prevent a result, as Warwickshire would be crowned winners having led on the first innings.

Press reporting that the ECB intend that there will be no Bob Willis Trophy next year and that the conference system will continue.. current match is not an advert for it’s continuation - at least not in September/October between the alleged “best" two county sides.

Press reporting that the ECB intend that there will be no Bob Willis Trophy next year and that the conference system will continue.. I think the Conference System could be ok, but some consideration of the total points in the first section MUST be given. As for the BWT, I think it would be an even better idea to cancel it right now.

Teams should carry over either all their points or none.

Listening to Farbrace (Warwickshire’s DoC) interviewed by Atherton this afternoon. He said the England set up had been "pretty good and more or less offered them Woakes" for the final game against Somerset in addition to being made available for 1 of the final 2 following the cancellation of the OT test. But not this week. Clearly, the England set up did not offer up Buttler or Anderson.

Atherton had a pop at Buttler lives in Clapham and could have popped to Lords given no Pakistan tour and looks forward to see if he is available for the Ashes

We now see that Lancs badly needed Buttler and Anderson this week. Lancs have been suckered, and embarrassed at Lords. What does it say for Lancashire C.C? I suppose it's wishful thinking that the Red Rose boys will redeem themselves in the 2nd innings.

Teams should carry over either all their points or none. Carrying over all points from a 10 game league into a 4 game league could mean that the tournament is almost over (for some teams anyway) before it starts. This year it wouldn’t have done, but more significant weather intervention in the earlier stage would mean that it easily might. Carrying over no points means that it’s a 4 game league with teams not even playing each other once. Not sure I agree with you. But certainly something needs to change. Of course they could change the structure entirely. Making it a 5 game league with ALL players available (and nothing brought forward) would be good, but not going to happen.

Lancs view
Rhodes struck his first red-ball century of the summer, and unbeaten 151, while Yates added the fifth of his prolific season as the Bears finished the second day at 464 for seven.
That represented a substantial lead of 386 runs to leave Warwickshire firmly on track to claim a second trophy inside a week.
Dominic Sibley and Sam Hain added half-centuries while Lancashire leg-spinner Matt Parkinson was rewarded for his toil on a placid pitch with three wickets.
Rhodes lifted the LV= Insurance County Championship trophy on Friday with only a century missing from his honours list for the season.
The 26-year-old set about rectifying that in dominant style after he walked into bat alongside Yates in the morning session after Sibley was trapped lbe by Tom Bailey.
Lancashire had needed more early wickets to have any hope of recovering an already desperate situation after they were skittled for 78 yesterday, but Rhodes and Yates ensured such thoughts were quickly off the table.
The pair settled into a 110-run second-wicket stand that not only squeezed any life out of the Red Rose challenge but also underlined why Yates is being touted for higher honours.
The 22-year-old reached his century with the calm assurance that successful teams require at the top of the order.
When he finally departed, well caught by Luke Wells at slip off Parkinson, Rhodes simply kept gong to bat through the day and further reinforce his side’s position.
Rhodes struck 18 boundaries and shared a further 97-run stand with Hain, who was bowled Jack Blatherwick for 55. Wells then bowled Matthew Lamb without scoring but Michael Burgess joined in the free scoring with 44 before Parkinson had him stumped.
Tim Bresnan and Danny Briggs both fell cheaply to the leg-spinners but Rhodes continued until the close to leave him and his side on the brink of a memorable week.
Fitting scenario for this is three days of rain

Intention to continue three division conference for 2022 and then revert to two divisions for 2023. Counties to vote next week. If this happens it suggests to me that the ECB prefer the two division system but have cocked up this year by not defining which teams would go into which division next year before the start of this season.
